First and foremost I’d like to thank Life with the Woodheads for the nomination. It’s always great being recognised by a fellow blogger in such a large community.
This is my first Recognition Award and I love the notion behind it, as you get to connect with more bloggers to help with your own journey and it lets you discover so many blogs that you can engage with.
How the Blogger Recognition Award works
- Thank the blogger that nominated you
- Write a post to show your award
- Give a brief story of how your blog started
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
- Select 15 other bloggers you’d like to give this award to
How did my blog start?
I always wanted to write but I was never too sure what to write about. After my daughter was born about two years ago, I had an even bigger urge to write but I never jumped on it because I was worried nobody would ever read it. But through being a mother and rediscovering myself, I grew much bolder and decided that this was never going to happen if I worried about people. It’s like they say… If you don’t try then you’ve already failed.
So, on a Friday afternoon in November 2018, I just started, without a proper plan or anything. I just started and it has been the best decision I have made. After writing a sentence or two, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. So my start was very spontaneous but my story has been months and years in the making. It just needed courage.
My advice to new bloggers
1.Participate in the blogging community
The blogging community is massive, connect with them and this blogging journey will be so much fun for you. Besides the fun, the blogging community is very supportive and you will find yourself reaching your goals. If you show them love, they will reciprocate by ten fold.
2.Have a marketing strategy
If you’re looking to monetize your blog. I can’t stress how important it is to market your work. It doesn’t help that you are a great writer with lots of content but nobody knows about it. Use your social media accounts and any resources within sight and market just as much as you work on your content. The hard work only starts once you hit “Publish” on your post.
